| First Binational Mayors of the Californias Summit |
| Ensenada, Baja California – July 23-25, 2009 Conference Origin: The First Binational Mayors of the Californias Summit emerged from initial dialogues at the 2008 Border Governors Conference in Los Angeles, California. Follow-up strategy meetings have taken place to discuss binational and bipartisan interests along the California and Baja California border region. Five Baja California Mayors: Pablo Alejo López Núñez of Ensenada, Jorge Ramos Hernández of Tijuana (Ing. Jesús Sandez Contreras, Sec. de Desarrollo Económico), Rodolfo Valdez Gutiérrez of Mexicali, Donaldo Eduardo Peñalosa Ávila of Tecate (Mónica Palomarez Ching, City Council), Hugo Eduardo Torres Chabert of Rosarito, and many mayors / representatives from California (names to follow) have met to discuss future cooperation and regional strategies. The City of Ensenada and the Orange County Center of International Trade Development at the Rancho Santiago Community College District hosted this inaugural Summit between these two economic powerhouses on July 23rd through July 25th 2009. All I can say is "Job well done." This was a great summit. It was well organized, great information was shared and we met alot of people. Good job Claudia Huerta with the Center for International Trade Development. | |
